The 17 proposed Sustainable Development Goals

We`re going to see this interesting video from UN about sustainable Development Goals; take notes. After that,  we`re going to discuss the topic to identify the most close goals  to environment care.
Students also must to read the official UN web page,  focus their attention on the chosen goals.
Taking into account these ones,  they will start to write responsible actions that they and community can do for preserve and protect the environment.

Students will watch next video about what´s sustainable development  but just before teacher will write on the board the phrase " SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT", so there will be a brainstorming about what  is the meaning of this concept. 
After that, students will listen it a couple of times and write notes. After a  short discussion  in groups of 3,  students  will answer a worksheet.

 This socialization allowed know and share with students, parents,  our principal, our academic coordinator  and our British Council adviser  the  advances and main aspects  of our project "Earth is in our hands". For us, socialization gave  the opportunity to assessment  ourselves and stop by a moment in the process that we are carrying out.
Some students explained in English the activities that we have done until now. It was a challenger for them because it is not easy speak in english in front of people, anyway it was a meaningful  experience for everybody and without doubt a good training for the final presentation.
On the other hand, the students were very happy to receive the congratulations of our principal and our coordinator, both,  have been fundamental to carry out projects as " Earth is in our hands".











We took advances of the socializations and asked to audience to write some comments and suggestions in order to strengthen the project.

This first rubric expected to  assessment the processes and work carried out until now, taking into account  that the assessment is not  focus on only in the  results but also in the  processes;  therefore it is necessary to know the difficulties and advantages of what has been done in order to build strategies that allow us improve.
A self-assessment was done , it gave students the opportunity to understand that they are a fundamental part of the process and that their actions and inputs are necessary to move forward.




This will be the final oral  presentation rubric which will be used at the end of July.

TASK: Write a short text  about differences between Simon Bolivar Park  zone and Las Lomas neighborhood.

STANDARDS: I use the vocabulary worked in classes in a real context.
I answer questions about the trip.
I write a short text using the simple present tense.

OBJECTIVE: To identify the main characteristics of Simón Bolivar Park.



It was an interesting class because the students could know one of the most beautiful parks in Bogotá, they knew its history and also had a great time with their peers and friends. There over they had  working on  a  worksheet,  shared some snacks  and played different games. It was a meaningful experience where they used the English in a funny way, also, reading and writing about the park.
One of the objectives of the trip was to compare the Lomas neighborhood with the park and the different landscapes along the way  thinking about  impact  of human actions on the environment and the great social and cultural inequalities that exist between a zone and another one, and not only in Bogotá,  but also  in the world.

This was an interactive class where students had the chance to write comments on the blog about  what they thought  and felt during the classes. Also they could  express different feelings about the environment problems and possible solutions using ICT. This class was done in the computer lab, then students were so encouraged and committed because they liked so much this place and use the computer too. They could surf on the blog, watch their pics, reflect on the activities aims and the relation between them.

 Students talked about how to protecting the world we live in and what  are  the principal world    problems inflicted by man. Besides they gave some solutions to improve the relationship between the people and the nature.
They used useful expressions in order to give their  opinions.
Through the analysis and understanding of the lyrics and video, they reflected on the different environmental, social and political problems that are destroying our planet.
On the other hand they practiced their listening skills and their spelling through the exercise of filling in the song.
Music is an excellent way to motivate the good use of language and oral expression.


TASK: Make a mural about how to protecting the world we live in.

STANDARDS:I use useful expressing working in class in my poster.
I write shorts sentences using some auxiliary verbs.
I give my point of view about how to protecting the world.

OBJECTIVE: To talk about how to protecting the world we live in using the expressions and structures working in class.
